To our fall 2021 students,
Greetings from San Diego State University. We are reaching out with some very good news regarding recent developments and the upcoming fall semester. Yesterday, the president of SDSU sent out a COVID-related update pertaining to California, San Diego, and San Diego State University, which you can find here. Some of the key takeaways from the announcement include:
- The Governor of California announced on April 6 that the state plans to fully reopen businesses and organizations on June 15.
- On April 7, San Diego moved into a less restrictive COVID tier, meaning the indoor capacity of restaurants, movie theaters, and zoos has increased to 50%, and retail stores and shopping malls are at 100%, with no capacity limits.
- SDSU is now planning for instruction and activities to be primarily in-person in the fall, and opening up on-campus housing to thousands of more students.
- To enable SDSU to finalize in-person instructional planning for the fall, the release of the fall 2021 course schedule has been moved to May 10.
This comes as exciting news to us and will have a very positive effect on the student experience this fall, both at SDSU and in the city of San Diego. I hope this email finds you in good health and brings promising news. We'e excited about a return to normalcy in San Diego and welcoming you to SDSU this fall!
